Glebe Rowing Club

Glebe Rowing Club is the third oldest rowing club on Sydney Harbour. It has a proud tradition of being inclusive having welcomed members from all walks of life since its inception back in 1879.

Located opposite the Fish Markets in Blackwattle Bay, the club has a mix of gay and straight members with the current President, Secretary and senior coach being gay. Rowing takes place at both a competitive and social level with members choosing the extent of involvement that suits them. Gay rowers have participated in a number of Out Games and Gay Games events across the world as well as joining with other club members in regular weekend regattas around the city and state. For the past decade gay rowers have also maintained a social row schedule each weekend for those who prefer a more relaxed approach to the sport.

The club offers ‘learn to row’ events to teach the sport to newcomers and is always welcoming of new members, whether gay or straight.
